MS Office training for the visually impaired

EnAble India trains visually impaired students on MS Office and Internet using JAWS screen reader. The emphasis is on practical exercises with one PC per person and small class sizes. The exercises ensure adequate practice of problems and exceptions faced by the visually impaired. Students are encouraged to explore, make mistakes and become independent and confident on the computer. The courses are held in weekday and weekend batches

Basic Computer training for children with disabilities

The emphasis of the basic computer course for children is on using computers as a supplemental tool to improve a disabled child's memory, reading, concentration, language skills and confidence. The goal is to make learning FUN! Children are encouraged to explore, make mistakes, show curiosity, ask questions and be competitive. Currently individual training is provided on a consultancy basis for visually impaired, hearing impaired and learning disabled children.

Computer training workshops for persons with disability

EnAble India conducts training on specific computer applications for those candidates who have some knowledge of computers. This is especially useful for persons with disability who are working or studying full time and require to upgrade their skills. This training is conducted for a group in a workshop format or on a need-basis for specific individuals usually on weekends.

Training in English communication skills for persons with disability

Effective English communication, both written and verbal, is a critical aspect of training for persons with disability. EnAble India's English training programme is especially useful for candidates / students from rural areas who do not have a strong foundation in English. The classes are currently conducted on weekends.

Future Plans

Cyber Cafe for visually impaired

By using the internet with a screen reader, the visually impaired too can have access to unlimited information and gain tremendous knowledge on subjects of their interest and network with people from around the world, like all the rest of us. EnAble India plans to set up a Cyber Cafe , exclusively for persons with vision impairment, taking care of their special needs such as screen reader, reading and OCR software etc. Persons with other disabilities can use regular cafes without any special software or resources. The cafe would be open only on weekends.
