Projects undertaken

SAFA - Screen Access For All

The large population of the blind and visually impaired in India are unable to use screen reader software for education or work because of two main reasons:
Foreign screen readers are expensive, priced at over Rs.50000 and Indian languages are not their focus
Current Indian development is only on Text to Speech (TTS) engines and Front end interfaces developed for the TTS engine cannot work with the OS and any application

"It is in this context that SAFA, a path breaking initiative for India was conceived by NAB, Delhi ". SAFA is an Indian low-cost windows-based multilingual screen reader product which will enable the use of computers by the visually impaired.
Enable India has been fortunate to have been associated with this project for a period of 10 months and provided project management and consultancy for the development of the version with support for Tamil, Kannada, .NET conversion and additional features.

SAFA Demo version features:

Support for Word, Excel, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer,
Automatic Detection Of Language;Support for English, Hindi, bangle, Tamil, Kannada
User-friendly Installer
Configurable Speed Voice (in English)Commands
Reading Capability Characters, Words, Lines, Window Title
Advanced reading capability
Selection, Word formatting, Word Tables, Most Dialog boxes, Date, Time

Funding Requirement for SAFA
